SUDAN ADVOCACY ACTION FORUM - STRATEGY

Our strategy, as with our goal, is simple.  We seek a just and lasting peace in Sudan through three methods in the priority listed:

Prayer:   We know that God can allow us to achieve our goal, and we seek His  assistance.  A prayer list is provided.  We encourage both individual and group prayer.   Pray for Sudan.
Action:

We lobbied Congress and the President for passage of the Sudan Peace Act and public recognition of the plight of the Southern Sudanese.  By letters, e-mails, phone calls and meetings, we address issues such as the need for our government to monitor the situation in Sudan related to human rights abuses, adherence to the tenets of the Peace Agreement signed in May 2004 and to implement the Comprehensive Sudan Peace Act provisions as needed.

We joined in a campaign to get a Resolution through Congress to urge the UN Security Council to take stronger actions in demanding the government of Sudan end the genocide in the Darfur region. We endeavor to inform the general public through advocacy events, speaking engagements, and involvement of the media.  We post periodic updates and requests for action to this web site and provide E-mail "Alerts."

We seek to avoid a South-South civil war by encouraging Sudanese factions to resolve their differences through reconciliation using methods proven by the New Sudan Council of Churches.

In an effort to be effective in the post-conflict reconstruction period, SAAF seeks the best way to work with the Sudanese to rebuild South Sudan.

Take action for Sudan.
